A One Day trek to Bhimashankar (Ladder Route) on coming Saturday / Sunday 2-3 August 2008…

Brief Introduction about Bhimashankar:-

Height: 3296 feet
Grade: Tough…
Time: ~ Maximum 4 hrs from Khandas, Base Village
Location: Nagar District

There is a beautiful temple of Lord Shiva which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Lord Shankara after getting angry killed Rakshas Tripurasura. The heat generated from their war caused the origin of river Bhima. That is why it is called Bhimashankar. A rare animal “Shekru” can be found in deep wood. Other details @ Bhimashankar temple

Journey Details:-
Catch the last local train for Karjat after Friday midnight. Timings r as follows
CST: 00:43

Karjat: 03:09

We will meet @ Karjat station

We will ascend via Shidichi Waat

09:00 Hrs:-@ Second Ladder
Fun time @ Waterfall and Breakfast Time
10:30 Hrs: – Trek Resume
12:30 Hrs:-@ Bhimashankar

Do arrangement for stay @ MTDC / Dharmashala

13:30 Hrs: Lunch
14:30 Hrs: 2wards Gupt Bhima
16:30 Hrs: Return 2 Temple
17:00 Hrs: Nagfani
19:00 Hrs: Return for Arati @ temple
20:30 Hrs: Dinner
22:00 Hrs: Sleeping time
Sunday 3rd August 2008
06:00 Hrs: Good Morning
08:00 Hrs: Descend via Ganesh Ghat
11.00 Hrs: Khandas
12:00 Hrs: Karjat (Lunch time)

Then by local train / bus to Mumbai
We will be in Mumbai around 16:00 hrs (that’s – subjective)

The Estimated initial expenditure is about Rs. 300 / –

This includes Karjat 2 Karjat rick fare, 2 Breakfast, 2 Lunch a Dinner & stay expenses

Things To Carry:-

A Water Bottle (~2.5 Ltrs)
Rain cheater (Optional) for those who don’t want to wet
Camera, Cell Phone, Binoculars (Optional)
Pls avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments
1 torch (a must)
Some ready to eat food.
Plum cakes, biscuits etc.
Extra Pair of clothes,
Knife, Spoon, plate
Good trekking shoes,
Personal basic medical kit (Containing an antiseptic, few bandages, personal medications if any, Antibiotics for stomach infection)
Sleeping Mat

  1. Thanks for the detailed itinerary. Maybe you should let the prospective trekkers know that the Shidichi Vaat can be pretty dangerous and slippery when wet. At least that way the trekkers know beforehand what they are getting into.

  2. i heard that ganeshghat is not operational due to sliding of the land,we planned to go to bhimashankar by that way,can anyone tell me that everything is ok there????????????

    I don’t know abt ganesh ghat … but shidi ghat was earlier not operational due to one ladder fallen … but a grp name DHumketu repaired it with 100-odd ppl … this i confimed abt one grp Sahyamitra who trekked on 26-27th July 2008
