Youngsterz trek to Kulang gad Igatpuri 17th and 18th of Jan ’09.

IMP: Sudden Changes in the plans
Hey all. i am sorry for those who might get disappointed after reading this..

as you all know 23rd to 26th jan is a long weekend.. and many people want to eagerly waiting for our plans for a trek on these dates.

Initially we had planned to visit Alang and Madan forts.. but this trek can be done in 2 days… and also only 10 experienced ppl can accompany us. this leaded into dissapointment of many regular members, who wish to join us for a long trek on this weekend.

Taking this into consideration, we at Youngsterz have decided to postpone our Alang-Madan plan by one week. And hence we will be visiting Alang and Madan on the next weekend, 31st jan-1st feb ’09.

As far as this weekend is concerned, we will be heading for a long trudge, ‘Ratangad to Harishchandragad’

As it wont be possible for everyone to take an extra leave on 23rd, we have decided to split the entire team into two:
Team A: 22nd night start : will start on 22nd night, and will visit and stay on Ratangad on 23rd night..
Next morning(24th) this group will decend Ratangad and reach the junction where routes for Harischandragad, Ratangad and Kalsubai meet.(This is where both the teams meet.)

Team B: 23rd night start : will start on 23rd night, and will reach ratanwadi and ascend till the junction and meet team A

both teams from here, will head towards harishchandragad..

The detailed plan will be posted on monday night..

The charges would be app 1000-1200 rs per person..

Registration are on.. we can accomodate max 20 ppl for this trek. so one needs to hurry up for registration.

For registrations, one can call Prasad Tandale on 9870491140.

Hi friends,

we at Youngsterz have arranged a trek to Kulang gad from Ambevadi village near Igatpuri on sat- sun, 17th and 18th of Jan ’09.

Offering the highest climb from base village in entire Sahyadri range, Kulang stands tall in Alang range right next to kalsubai peak. Standing at the height of 4822 ft, it also boasts about one of the finest views form the top and is graded as a medium / difficult trek.

Sightseeing:

Caves, ruins, number of water cisterns, old bandhara.

The panoramic view offered from the top of Kulang is one of the best in the Sahyadris. One can see the forts in the Kalsubai range, Baleshwar range and hills right up to Naneghat and Dhakoba

On a very clear day, with a blue firmament on the back ground and small huts in the foreground, makes this a picturesque scene

The plannings for the trek are:
The timings of the local are

CST: 5.01
Byculla: 5.10
Dadar: 5.15
Kurla: 5.25
Ghatkopar: 5.31
Thane: 5.50
Dombivili: 6.15
Kalyan: 6.23
Kasara: 7.45

For those who dont know how we meet:
everyone gets into the second last compartment of this local, from their respected stations. second last compartment is the second one from CST side… one that is adjacent to the first ladies.

Thus there is no specific meeting point.. Every one meets each other in the local itself.
We will leave Mumbai by the second Kasara local on Saturday. From here we will reach Ghoti by the local transport and then get a bus to Ambewadi at 9.30 and start our trek by 10 am.

We will be back on Sunday by 7-8 pm till Kasara stn.

Things to be carried:
A haversack 2 put in all the things 2 be carried. So that one has his hands free while trekking. Pls do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Lunch for sat,
a pack of maggie,
Water (2 Ltrs),
warm clothes and good Bedding as could be chilling cold over there,
snacks,
Camera (Optional)
SHOES:-Sport or Trekking Shoe, Socks (extra 1 pair).
Torch, candles compulsory.
personnel medicines, Etc.

The cost for the trek is Rs 500/head, which includes Kasara to Kasara travelling, and food facilities.

The way towards the fort is a bit risky.
So we will prefer only experienced ppl.
