Little About The Fort
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 2030 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Base Village: Thakurwadi.
Located in the vicinity of Pali and endowed with about 50 acres plateau atop, Sudhagad offers a wonderful and an easy trek.
Situated at the height of about 680 meters(2030 ft), Sudhagad is well fortified by steep cliffs. Due to its qualities Sudhagad was actually proposed by Naro Mukund to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to make it the capital of Hindavi Swaraj. Shivaji Maharaj visited Sudhagad to survey it, but he chose Raigad because of its central location.
Places to see:
Echo Point There are lots of places to visit on and around Sudhagad. On Sudhagad one can enjoy the echo’s at Echo Point.
Takamak Tok which lies nearby, was used to punish the convicted people by pushing him into the valley, but in present times it offers us a mesmerizing panoramic views.
Pant sachiva Wada is the place where one can have a night stay,
Bhorai devi’s temple- where one can take the blessings of Bhor provinces kuldaivat and
Mahadarwaja greeting you on the way to Sudhagad from Dhondse. It’s said that Sudhagad’s Mahadarwaja is an exact replica of Raigad’s Mahadarwaja.
From the top, we can have a look at the nearby other forts like Sarasgad, Korigad, Dhangad, Taila-Baila etc.
The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting point : Diva Station sharp at 5.45am on Sunday 28th June 09 with single ticket till Nagothane station.
Board the first Diva-Sawantwadi passenger from Diva station on 28th June at 6.00 am.
Reach Nagothane at around 8.45am and move forward to Pali by ST/Tumtum.
Breakfast break at Pali and catch a bust by 10.30am to Thakurwadi.
Reach by 11.30am and start the trek.
Its a small trek so within two hours we will reach the top, say by 1.30pm.
Exploration and lunch will take around three hours.
Descend down in one hours 5.30pm.Take a bus till Pali at 5.45pm.
Start our return journey to Mumbai by 7pm.
We will be reaching Mumbai by 10-10.30pm.
The cost for the trek is Rs 200/- per head which includes
Travelling from Nagothane to Sudhagad and back to Mumbai,
Breakfast and evening refreshments.
Things To Be carried:
Identity proof (must)
Lunch For Sunday,
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
A bottle of water (atleast 2 Ltrs),
2-3 bunch of papers
Towel, a napkin, Extra Pair of clothes
TORCH with extra batteries (compulsory).
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
A good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried….so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Pleases do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.
Rains are expected, so pack yr bags accordingly to save them from getting wet. Double pack your valuables in plastic bags
