Volunteer engagement program at Kanha Tiger Reserve 19th June- 21st June 2010

WWF-India is organizing a volunteer engagement program at Kanha Tiger Reserve to give nature lovers a chance to understand and participate in WWF-India’s conservation efforts at the grassroots level.

Date: 19th June- 21st June 2010

Venue: Mandla, Madhya Pradesh

Activities for the days: 

  1. You will get a chance to visit the villages surrounding Kanha Tiger Reserve and get a first hand experience to witness and understand tribal lifestyles and their views about wildlife and forest conservation.
  2. You will be taken to visit the Community Conservation Centre near Khatia. This centre demonstrates the activities WWF-India conducts with the local communities in the nearby villages to help them build sustainable livelihoods.
  3. WWF-India runs a Mobile Van which goes into the villages in the evening to spread awareness amongst the communities about the importance of conservation. You will get a unique chance to travel with the Mobile Van and assist the WWF team in spreading awareness through interaction with the villagers.
  4. WWF-India also engages in afforestation activities to restore tiger habitat. We will organise a Plantation Drive where you can assist the WWF officials and forest guards in planting samplings in the areas chosen for afforestation.

You are expected to reach Mandla, M.P. by 18th evening. Activities will be conducted on 19th and 20th of June. You can leave Mandla by the after noon of 21st June.

Please note that you will have to bear the expenses of your travel to Mandla and back. Local transport, food, and accommodation for 19th-21st will be taken care of by WWF-India.
