This monsoon SPROUTS will be organising a series of treks in the Northern Western Ghats to explore the amazing biodiversity of this ‘hotspot’. The first in this series was the moonlight trek to Sudhagad in May.
Join us for an easy and relaxing one-day trek to Avchitgad on Saturday July 3, 2010. Enjoy the spectacular view of the lush green forest and get familiar with the flora and fauna of the region. From the top of the fort we can locate the peaks of Telbaila, Sudhagad, Sarasgad, Dhangad, Raigad, Korigad and Savashna Ghat.
Meet at Kurla station at 5:25am on July 3, 2010, to catch the 5:32 or 5:55am train for Panvel. We catch a passenger from Panvel (at 7am) to Roha for which we need reach Panvel latest by 6:45am (breakfast in the train). We reach Roha by 9amto transfer to bus/tumtums to the base village of Pengalsai. Trek begins roughly by 10am and we reach the top by 12noon. After some lunch, rest and local sightseeing we shall start our descent to Roha by 2pm. We take the same route back and will reach Mumbai (Kurla) by roughly 8:30-9pm.
Cost Rs. 550 for non-members & Rs. 500 for members, which includes travel by Train from Kurla to Panvel, Panvel to Roha and shared tumtums (large autorickshaws), simple vegetarian breakfast & lunch and dry snacks, guide fees and literature. Please note, if the group needs to hire smaller autorickshaws due to lack of suitable transport, the fare shall be divided at actuals as that fare is highly variable. Bottled Water or aerated beverages are not considered in the cost of the trek.
