Shalom Adventures Trek to Bhimashankar on 2nd -3rd October 2010

Hi Friends,
Bhimashankar is the Hill fort above sea level : 3300 ft in the district of Raigad.

History:
Bhimashankar is one of the 12 Jyotirlings of India, a pilgrimage place approximately 3500 feet high up in the hills. The area around Bhimashankar is covered with thick dense jungle. The Maharashtra Government has also declared it a Sanctuary. Bhimashankar is a good paradise for nature lovers, trekkers, jungle lovers and bird watchers. Lord Shankara after getting angry killed Rakshas Tripurasura. The heat generated from their war caused the origin of river Bhima. That is why it is called Bhimashankar.

Here is the schedule

2nd October
2010
Kindly board 5:58 am Karjat local from Dadar. First compartment Karjat end.
Next train from Dadar at 07:03 am. (Might miss the group at Karjat)
8:30 am Karjat Station.
Bus/Jeep till
Khandas base village.
9:30 am Trek Start.
(Approx time for trek 4 hrs – 5 hrs)
2:30 pm we reach the top. Visit the fort.
Accommodation depends on available of place.
3rd October 2010
06.00 am – 11.00 am: Darshan of Lord Shiva and Gupt Bhimashankar
12.00 pm: Start return journey via Ganesh ghat
06.00 pm: Reach Khandas and move towards Karjat station.
Mumbai by 10.00-10.30 pm
9:00 pm Dadar Approx
Above is tentative schedule. It might change depending on the situation. Decision will be taken by organizer.
Must Carry:
Raincoats / Cheaters.
Rainy sandals / shoes.
Extra pair of clothes.
A good flashlight / torch (compulsory)
Rucksack.
Personal Medicine, if any.
2-3 litres water bottle (compulsory)
Camera (optional).
A pack of candle & matchbox
Mosquito / insect repellent
Sleeping bag / bed sheet.
Lunch for day 1 (compulsory)
Some ready to eat food, Glucon-D, etc.

Cost: Rs.550 /-
Included in fees:
It will cover your travelling from Karjat to Karjat, Morning breakfast & Tea
Dinner on day 1 and Lunch on day 2.
Anything apart from this will be considered out of package.
What is not included in fees?
Mineral Water, Cold drinks, Snacks like chips, etc.
Registration is on first come first serve basis.

Your confirmation is considered only after receiving the registration amount Rs. 300/-

Please note:
That unlike conventional picnic, it is an adventure event wherein we are going to take public transport, eat available local food. It’s absolutely safe and easy trek if any unnecessary risk and bravado is avoided.
