MASK Group: Trek to KORAIGAD, 21st August, 2011

Koraigad is famous for its excellent fortification (‘Tatbandi’). There are two lakes and many cannons on the fort. Korai devi temple – the deity of the fort Korigad (4ft height). The surrounding forts of Tung, Tikona, Prabalgad, Matheran, Manikgad can be seen from the top.

A simple flat top fort and best for trekking beginners. This area is most of the time engulfed in Fog in rainy season. One can see part of one of the most exotic places in India, the beautiful Amby valley adjoining this fort.

1230hrs-1430hrs: Explore the fort, Lunch and leisure time

1430hrs: Start Descend for Peth Shahapur village

1600hrs: Reach Base Village and Depart for Mumbai

1630-1700hrs: Break for Site-seeing

1700hrs: Depart for Mumbai

2030hrs: Arrive at Bandra Rly. Stn. (Tentative)

Things to Carry:

Lunch For the day

Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.

A bottle of water (atleast 2 Ltrs/person).

Personal Medicine (if any)

A good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks, Windcheaters.

Please do not carry sling bags or Jholas.

Rains are expected, so pack yr bags accordingly to save them from getting wet. Double pack your valuables in plastic bags.
