Dear Friends We Invite You For Trek To Himalayas Chadar Trek Also Called Frozen River Trek 23rd to 31st Jan 2016    The Chadar Trek or the Zanskar Gorge is a winter-trail in Zanskar region of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.  The mountains are steep and in the winter snowfall closes many of the mountain passes and makes the few roads  treacherous. Some villages become completely inaccessible between November and March. One method of accessing snow-bound villages during the winter  is trekking on top of the ice of frozen rivers. The Chadar trek is one such route, connecting villages in the Zanskar valley (deep in the mountains)  with Chilling (on the road to Leh) along the frozen Zanskar River. This route has been used for centuries for trade and transportation, and is most  reliable in February when the ice is most stable.  Now, We should make it clear that the Zanskar river is big and fast-flowing. For most of its length between Chilling and the Zanskar valley the river is confined within a steep canyon. If the idea of walking over frozen river ice with a large pack on your back and very cold rushing water a few inches below your feet is terrifying, then you are not alone. The hike from Chilling to the Zanskar valley takes more than a week, and at night porters usually sleep in caves in the canyon walls. This trek is considered as one of the most exciting and unique treks  The ‘Chadar’ is a perfect example of the resourcefulness of the Ladakhis and their indomitable spirit against such daunting odds. The landscape acquires a pristine grandeur in winter as the trail enters into the gorge of the Zanskar where temperatures sometimes drop to –30 degree Celsius. You will be dropped by a vehicle at Chilling. The trek passes through a narrow valley filled with breath-taking views of ice-peaks and unexpected hanging icicles. You will spend the night at cave camps with the help of a born fire. Chadar means sheets and is used to refer to the trek along the fr… Read more

Dear Friends we invite you all for Trek to Harihar fort on 27th Dec 2015 Leaving on 26th Dec 2015 Saturday Night. Type : Hill fortsFort Range : TrimbakeshwarDistrict : NashikEndurance : EasyDifficulty : MediumHeight : 3676 ftTrek Leader: Nishant Sheth. Harihar, also called Harish Fort, is 6.43 km west of Trimbak and 1,120.44 metres (3,676 feet) above sea-level. The trek to Harihar Fort is short yet tiring. The last 200 feet of the hike is a nerve-racking climb through steep rock cut stairs inclined at 80 degrees. The descent is particularly exhilarating as you have to climb down and at one point face a sheer 500 ft drop. The architecture of the stairs is so diverse and outstanding and offers spectacular and occasionally scary views of the valley below. The fort is situated amidst the huge Vaitarna dam and the Trimbakeshwar mountain ranges offer stunning views of the area around. It was of substantial importance in earlier days to keep watch on the route crossing the range connecting Maharashtra to Gujarat. Trimbakeshwar range spreads from north of Igatpuri to west of Nasik. It is divided in two parts, with forts of Basgad, Utvad, hill of Fani, Harihar and Trimbakgad on one part and those of Anjaneri and Hargad on the other. The water flows away from this region because of the one – sided slope of Sahyadris. The fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village and is located on top of a triangular massif with all the three sides being vertical and hence naturally fortified. There is only one access to the fort through a 200ft high rock cut staircase inclined at an 80 degree angle. It was one of the forts in the possession of the Ahemadnagar Sultans. Captain Briggs from the British army visited the fort in 1818, and left a fairly detailed description. He described the ascent as truly wonderful. In 1636 Harihar, Trimbakgad, Tringalvadi and a few other Poona forts were given by the Marathas to the Mughals. Hariharwas one of the seventeen strong places that were… Read more
