WSR One Day Trek to Ahupe Ghat On 17th July 2016   Short Info: Height: 3855 feet above sea level Grade: Medium Cost: 650/- Per Person         600/- for WSR Members. Lead: Mahadeo / Radhika   Ahupe Ghat is a pass connecting to Khopivali Village in the konkan and Ahupe village on the Ghats. Trekking through this ghat is not labourious. The trek passes through thick forest and is ideal for one day hike especially in the monsoon, with picturesque views from the top. The edges of the ghat drop vertically to the konkan and there are many narrow gorges, with breathtaking drops. In the monsoon, it hosts waterfalls all around and gushing streams in the gorges. Ahupe village is very picturesque. It looks like a remote hamlet because on one side is the steep narrow drop to konkan and on the other three, there is a mountain range enclosing it, cutting it off from the Deccan plateau. From top one can see Damdamia, Bhimashankar, Durga Killa, Dhakoba, Gorakhgad etc.    Itinerary: Meet at Kalyan ST Depot at 7:00am sharp Travel to Murbad by State Transport Bus Travel to base village by Private vehicle. WSR One day Trek to Ghangad and Telbaila (till col)  on 16th July 2016   Short Info: Height: 3000 feet (Ghangad ) / 3322 feet (Telbaila) Grade: Easy Time: Max.45 min from Ekole / Max. 45 minutes from Telbaila Region: Lonavala Cost:  800/- Per Person           750/- for WSR member Trek Lead: Mahadeo / Satish   Ghangad is situated on the western side of Mulshi river, which is called as Kobarse Maval. This fort is surrounded by Korigad, Telbaila and Sudhagad, but still lonely and separated. There is not much documentation explored about the history of the fort. Earlier it was with Koli Samant, then with Adilshah and later with Marathas. Telbaila was a watch tower built to guard over the Sahwashni ghat near Pali. It consists of two rock walls, the left and the right clearly differentiated by the col. in between. There is a temple of local goddess at the base of the twin wall. There are lots of ancient man-made water tank & caves at the base as well as on the climbing routes. Though not of much historic importance – the rock walls of Telbaila offer great rock climbing opportunities of technical grade.   Itinerary: Saturday 16th July 2016 Mumbai Participants: – Catch Indrayani Express and get down at Lonavala station 5:37 am, Mumbai CST: 5:46 am, Dadar 06:05 am, Thane 06:30 am, Kalyan 08:00 am, Lonavala Pune Participants: – Catch Pune-Lonavala local and get down at Lonavala station 6:27 am, Pune 6:33 am, Shivaji Nagar 6:55 am, Pimpari 7:04 am, Dehu Road 7:16 am, Talegoan 7:30 am, Kamshet 7:55 am, Lonavala 08.05am: Meet near ticket counter on Platform number 1 (Lonavala (W)) 08.10am: Breakfast & Tea 08.30am: Move towards Ghangad Fort Base Village 10.15am: Start Ascending the fort 12.00pm: Ghangad Top & Explore 1.00pm : Lunch 1.30pm – Move to Tailbaila 2.30pm – Trek till Tailbaila Col (No climbing) 3.30pm – back to village 5.00pm – Lonavala We will be in Mumbai around 8.00pm  (subjective)   Things to Carry: A bottle of … Read more
