Type: Hill Fort Contribution: Rs 400.00 per person. About: Visapur Fort is larger and at a higher elevation than its twin fort- Lohagad. Within the fort are caves, cisterns of water, a decorated arch and old houses. These two roofless buildings surrounded by outer or veranda walls said to have once been Government offices. The ruins of a large stone-built house are known as the Peshwa’s palace. In addition to a huge carving of Hanuman, there are also several temple dedicated to him scattered all over the place.   Often referred to as “The Jewel of Vidarbha”, the Tadoba National Park lies in the district of Chandrapur in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra. In recent times, it has been the most consistent forest with regards to tiger sighting. Tadoba doesn’t disappoint.   Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is the most protected ecological piece of Annamalai sub unit of Western Ghats. It is surrounded on all sides by protected areas and sanctuaries of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is endowed with a peninsular flora and fauna which are excellently conserved due to total protection and minimal human interference. Valparai is a mid-elevation hill station with tea plantations surrounded by evergreen forest. The scenic drive to the town from Pollachi passes through a sanctuary noted for leopards, elephants, boars, lion-tailed macaques, gaur, spotted deer, sambar, and Giant Squirrels. The area is also rich in birds, including the Great Hornbill.   The Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (also known as Sasan-Gir) is a forest and wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat. Established in 1965, with a total area of 1,412 km2, the park is located 43 km  north-east of Somnath. The count of 2,375 distinct fauna species of Gir includes about 38 species of mammals, around 300 species of birds, 37 species of reptiles and more than 2,000 species of insects. The carnivores group mainly comprises Asiatic lions, Indian leopards, Indian cobras, Jungle cats, striped hyenas, Golden jackals, Indian mongoose, Indian palm civets, and honey badgers. Desert cats and rusty-spotted cats occur but are rarely seen. The main herbivores of Gir are Chital, Nilgai, Sambar, Four-horned antelope, Chinkara and Wild boar. Blackbucks from the surrounding area are sometimes seen in the sanctuary. Among the smaller mammals, Porcupine and Hare are common, but the Pangolin is rare. The reptiles are represented by the Marsh crocodile, Hir tortoise and the Monitor lizard in the water areas of the sanctuary. Snakes are found in the bushes and forest. Pythons are sighted at times along the stream banks. Gir has been used by the Gujarat State Forest Department which adopted the Indian Crocodile Conservation Project in 1977 and released close to 1000 marsh crocodiles reared in Gir rearing centre into the Kamaleshwar Lake and other reservoirs and small water bodies in and around Gir.   Itinerary: Day 1: Board 19017 Saurashtra janta Express at 17:35 at Bandra Terminus. Vatsaru Trekking Club is glad to invite you all for monsoon one day trek to ROHIDA Fort on Sunday 3 July 2016.   Rohida fort / Vichitragad Fort is a fort located 10 km from Bhor, Pune district, Maharashtra,  India. Shivaji Maharaj won the fort from the hands of Bandal-Deshmukh of Rohid in a close battle. The conflict resulted in the death of Krishnaji Bandal. After the battle, many officials along with Bajiprabhu Deshpande, a chief administrator of Bandals, were inducted into Swarajya movement.
