Torna Waterfall Rappelling
Torna has always been one of the popular forts for the adventure seeking trekkers. While the trek to the fort is an interesting one, this Programme aims at a unique adventure of rappelling down a waterfall. The necessary safety norms of belaying, harnessing and using standard equipment’s will ensure a safe adventure.
History of Torna: This was a fort
Won by Shivaji Maharaj in his teenage. It was here that he found a pot containing gold coins, which later was used for building Rajgad fort. Colonial Governor James Douglas aptly mentioned ‘It was Sivaji’s 1st conquest, the nucleus around which all others clustered, making it virtually the cradle of the Maratha Empire, which shocked the throne of the great Moguls. If Sinhagad was Lion’s den then.

Torna Fort also known as Prachandagad is a large fort located in Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is historically significant because it is the first fort captured by Shivaji Maharaj in 1643, at the age of 16 forming the nucleus of the Maratha empire. The hill has an elevation of 1,403 metres (4,603 ft) above sea level, making it the highest hill-fort in the district. The name derives from Prachanda (Marathi for huge or massive) and gad (Marathi for fort).[1]
From historical point of view this fort is important because it was the first fort won by Shivaji Maharaj. Also it is said that during repairs of the fort Shivaji Maharaj found pots full of gold coins. This money helped in the construction of Rajgad fort.
