A trek to “Sagargad Fort” in Alibag region of Maharashtra. Sagargad, also called “Khed Durg” or “Sea-Fort(Britishers)” is located in the Alibag region of Maharashtra. This fort can be viewed from the “Alibag – Pen Road” and stands out due to a unique rock fomation called the “Vanartok Pinnacle”, a favourit e “Rock-Climbing” hotspot for serious “Mountain training” professionals. I t is mentioned in 1713 as being one of the 16 fortified forts given to Kanoji Angre by Peshwa Balaji Visvanath. Prisoners, sentenced to death were said to have been hurled from “Monkey point” of the fort into the steep valley below.Today. all that remains of this fort is its ruins of a historic past. The natural “Spring water” is known as “Pandavkund”, pure unpolluted water which quenched our parched throats after a hectic climb to the top.
