Trekking to Shrivardhan Fort in Rajmachi.(Sunday 19-9-2010).

Nine of us from the “B.N.H.S(Bombay Natural history Society)” group, two women and seven men trekked up to the 3000 feet high “Fort Shreevardhan” situated in Rajmachi in the state of Maharashtra. The group was led by B.N.H.S trek leader Mr Vandhan.Jhaveri with the help of a local guide during the ascent and descent of the expedition to Rajmachi. We began our trek from Kondavane village in Karjat at approx 1100hrs and reached Rajmachi at approx 1645 hrs, a very steep route, with a brief stop at the famous Buddhist caves known as “Kondana Caves”. After a nights stay at Rajmachi village we began our trek to the twin Forts of Shrivardan and Manaranjan the next day , later returning back to Mumbai in the evening, a hectic and very strenous trek.
