Notes 

  • All Course fees given here are subsidized fee. For Special courses on Sports Climbing, Rock Climbing, Disaster Search &Rescue courses fee will be on full cost basis of Rs 1200 per day. The minimum strength of full cost basis courses will be 15 trainees.
  • Eligibility: (a) ADVANCE MOUNTAINERING COURSE is for trainees graded ‘A’ only in Basic Mountaineering course from NIMAS; Dirang, HAWS; GULMARG (J&K), NIM: Uttarkashi, HMI: Darjeeling, JIM: Pahalgam (J&K), ITBP Trg Centre Auli, Joshimath, Dist- Chamoli, ABBIM & AS, Manali and SGMI Gangtok. (b) SEARCH & RESCUE and METHOD OF INSTRUCTION COURSES are for trainees Graded ‘A’ only in Advance Mountaineering Course.
  • ALLOTMENT OF VACANCIES: Seats are allotted on first come first serve basis. If the required course is not available, vacancy will be given in the next available course. The Institute will maintain a waiting list of candidates and information will be sent to candidates well in advance of their confirmation to attend the course. The Institute website will be functional soon and will have the updated list of candidate waitlisted.
  • PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL: (a) Trainees should be in good physical and mental condition prior to undertaking any course. Taking long walk on uneven tracks with load is preferable. Long distance running and regular fingers and arms exercise will prove to be helpful. Candidates must be mentally attuned for bare minimum comfort in rough outdoor environment. It will be helpful if candidates start with light walk and graduate to a run of about 10 to 12 Km per day at least 60 days before the commencement of the course. (b) Search & Rescue course requires a very high level of physical fitness and patience to bear very inclement weather. (c) A qualifying test comprising of 15 km Trek with 20 kg load will be taken before a trainee is accepted in the Basic Mountaineering Course. The test will be conducted on 03 or 04 day of the course all those not completing with in stipulated time will not be taken for mountain training.
  • TRAINING FEE (INDIAN NATIONALS) (a) Training Fee should be remitted through a Bank Draft, payable at State Bank of India, Dirang , payable at Dirang. PART PAYMENT,CHEQUES, MONEY ORDERS, POSTAL ORDERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Simple and wholesome vegetarian and non vegetarian meals are served during the course. No special dietary requirements can be catered for. (c) REFUND OF FEE: Cancellation of seat three months earlier entitles full refund of fee, No refund thereafter. Once participated in the course, training fee will not be refunded or transferred if an individual leaves course midway due to illness or any other exigency.
  • TRANSFER OF VACANCY For an individual transfer of vacancy is not permitted except for valid medical reason. Organization sponsored candidates can be changed by sponsoring organization at their discretion under intimation to the institute.
  • REPETITION OF COURSE The courses conducted in NIMAS are highly subsidized to encourage adventure sports and the vacancies are limited. Repeating a course by an individual leads to denial of opportunity to someone else.
  • ARRIVAL Trainees must arrive day before commencement of course. LATE ARRIVALS EVEN BY ONE DAY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO JOIN THE COURSE. 9.
