History and facts
Gandikota is a small village on the right bank of the river Pennar,
15 km from Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Surrounded by a deep valley and impassable hills & with massive boulders of red granite and the river Pennar that flows about 300 ft. below on the west and northern sides,
Its location affords strong natural defence to the occupants of the Fort.
The exploits of Pemmasani Nayaks, Gothram : Musunulla, Rulers of Gandikota and Commanders in Vijayanagar army to protect the honour of Telugu land are well known.
Gandikota was one of the greatest forts of south India in its heydays and so were the kings who ruled the region.
Within the fort are two ancient temples, dedicated to Madhava and Ranganatha, both are in ruins and the fort area is full of the debris of ages and many ancient structures in varying stages of decay. The large granary, with a vaulted roof, is now used as the traveller’s bungalow.
The Jamia Masjid has two adjacent minarets. A heritage festival is held every year in fort area.
Belum caves :
Belum Caves is the largest tourist cave in Indian subcontinent and the longest caves in plains of Indian Subcontinent, known for its stalactite and stalagmite formations.
Belum Caves have long passages, spacious chambers, fresh water galleries and siphons.
It is a natural underground cave formed by the constant flow of underground water.
The caves reach its deepest point (150 feet from entrance level) at the point known as Pataalaganga.
In Telugu language, it is called బెల్లము గుహలు Belum Guhalu. Belum Caves has a length of 3229 metres, making it the second largest natural caves in Indian Subcontinent after Krem Liat Prah caves in Meghalaya.
Day 00 (23rd Feb, Friday)
Leave from Dadar to Cuddapah by Chennai Express at 08:30 pm
Day 01 (24th Feb, Saturday) :
Reach at Cuddapah by 02:00 pm. Proceed to Gandikota by private vehicle.
Check in the hotel and have delicious lunch.
Post lunch set out to explore one of the most unique places in India – Gandikota!
Enjoy the scenic sunset at Gorge of River Pennar – Grand Canyon of India. click beautiful pictures. Bask in the glory of sunset hues.
Back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02 (25th Feb, Sunday) :
Wake Up early and have breakfast.
Check out and Explore the Gandikota fort.
After an early lunch, proceed towards Belum.
Explore the India’s second largest caves-Belum Caves. The hide and seek of sun rays falling through the caves makes it a beautiful sight to behold. proceed to Tadipatri.
Board train for the return journey at 06:30 pm.
Day 03 (26th Feb, Monday) :
Reach Mumbai by afternoon.
Total Cost for the entire trip will be :

INR 5900 from Mumbai to Mumbai
