It’s June, which means we’re getting into the thick of summer courses here in Lander. We’ve already had nine courses head out this week and that’s only the beginning. Hopefully your summers are also in full swing and you’re taking advantage of whatever beautiful weather you might have (I know it’s been pretty crazy in some areas, so I suppose you have to get out there when you can!).
National Get Outdoors Day – We know that you love getting outdoors – why else would you have done a NOLS course? So, whether it’s beautiful or not, we encourage to head outside this coming Saturday, June 14 for National Get Outdoors Day. NGOD is the perfect opportunity for you to share your passion for the wilderness with other folks.
Take the opportunity to get out and enjoy your natural surroundings! There are events happening in every state around the country–to find one near you, check out their website. Bring your family and friends, and visit a favorite spot in your area. Better yet, get out and find a new one!
Alumni Service Project – Want to get outdoors and do some good at the same time? Check out our Alumni Service Project. It’s a great way to give back to the wilderness areas that NOLS relies on so heavily.
Sponsored by the Forest Service, participants will be building trails, rehabing campsites, and even repairing bridges all the while enjoying the camaraderie of other grads. Not all work and no play, there will be some free time to get re-acquainted with the Winds, or a fly rod, or even a non-technical peak. Bring your work gloves and a camera.
NOLS Store Spotlight Items – Check out the NOLS store before you head out this summer to stock up on whatever you might need. Feeling chilly in town? Grab a warm (and stylish) NOLS Rocky Mountain hooded sweatshirt.
If you’re heading out into the backcountry, make sure to check out these packs, designed specifically for NOLS by Deuter and field-tested by NOLS staff.Keep yourself hydrated with WMI’s Kleen Kanteen water bottle. Non-toxic, dishwasher safe, and adorned with a nifty WMI logo. What more could you want?
Free shipping, of course. Use coupon code alumnifreeship between now and August 31st for free shipping. Just make sure you follow the directions: After adding items to your shopping cart scroll to the bottom of the “Your shopping cart” screen and enter coupon code in the “Discount Coupon” field. Do this BEFORE you proceed to Checkout. We can’t process discounts after orders have been placed.
Until Next Time,
Lauren
