Tikona fort is ht TIKONA FORT(3633ft)Tikona (also known as Vitangagad) is the dominant hill fort in Maval in western India. It is located near Kamshet around 125 kms from mumbai. The village nearest the fort is called Trikona-Peth. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means “triangle”.
The fort is a trekking destination noted for the large doors, the temple of ‘Vitandeswar Mahadev’, a water tank and some Satvahan caves.the views of Pawna dam and the nearby forts of Tung, Lohagad and Visapur. There is a lake at the summit.
From Pune station at 6:00am by a local train for Lonavala and alighted at Kamshet. It took almost one and half-hour to reach to Kamshet.
One could then catch a bus from Kamshet station on the ghats section to Kale Colony, near Pawna Dam.
From Kale Colony one can get either a bus or a jeep that can be shared among 6-8 people to reach the village at the base called Gavhande village.
This village is also known as Tikona-Peth.
Have a light breakfast at Kamshet and then take a jeep for Kale Colony. From there, Catch a six seater to reach at Gavhande village, from where the actual trek begins.
