Backpack holidays present a trekking opportunity at some new place, new terrain and far away from the regular treks conducted at Lonavala, karjat, nashik area. We have identified Gambhirgad (2252 ft.) for trekking on 22nd of August 2010. It is a double rigged mountain. Like every conspicuous mountains this one stands tall on a huge plain keeping the union territory of Dadra and Nagar haveli to its north and Maharashtra to its south. So strategic is its location that the Maharashtra gazetteer uses the fort as a landmark to demarcate the border between the state and the union territory.
To reach Gambhirgad (120 kilometers from Mumbai), one can travel to Charoti Naka on the Mumbai – Ahemedabad highway and turn right towards Kasa village – Sayvan – Vihale
