BNHS trek to Tikona Fort 22nd August 2010

Trek to Tikona Fort. Situated at an elevation of 3,500 feet, Tikona fort is 40 km from Lonavala. Tikona literally means three corners, from where one gets a breath taking view of the Pavana Lake and Tung fort. Look out for majestic Long-billed Vulture (on a clear sky), Malabar Whistling Thrush, Rock Gecko,
Tortoise-shell Beetle, and snakes like Shield Tail, Green Vine Snake. Good time to see wildflowers.
Grade: Medium. Meeting point: Bus will leave at 6.30 a.m. from Dadar, (near Chandu Halwai) 6.50 a.m. from Chembur, (near Diamond Garden) and Vashi Junction at 7.10 a.m. Participants will return by evening.
