Andharban Trek – 31st July, 2016   Andharban is a complete descend trek, where you are already on height and you will descend till end. The name itself describes as a dark dense forest. It is believed that this was the trade route which connects Konkan villages with Western Ghats of Tamhini range. This is a treat to trekkers as the 13km trail goes through more than 10 fabulous water streams and beautiful waterfalls. It is one of the most beautiful trek and lots of things to explore. It gives you unique experience of jungle walks and some small cliff ways. We will be witnessing the awesome view of the Kundalika Valley, Bhira dam and the mountain ranges of Tamhini Ghat. Konkan Kada: One of the biggest cliffs of the sahyadris, fascinating many people from years together. Facing towards the konkan side, the cliff looks down upon the Konkan with a breathtaking view of the surrounding region. Not only vertical, but it has an overhang, almost like a cobra’s hood. Kedareshwar: The cave of Kedareshwar has a big Shivlinga, which is totally surrounded by water. Caves – There are many caves on this fort. Taramati Peak: Also known as Taramanchi. This is the topmost point on the fort. It is the 2nd highest peak in Maharashtra. Leopards are seen in the forests beyond this peak. Lord Ganesha of Pali is named ‘Ballaleshwar’ and located just behind the temple can be seen the ramparts of Sarasgad fort. The fort was mainly used to keep a check on the surrounding regions. From the fort, Pali and all surrounding areas can be seen. Shivaji Maharaj brought this fort under Swarajya and spent 2000 Hon (the prevailing currency) for its reconstruction. WSR Friendship Day Special trek to Tringalwadi Fort 07th August 2016 Lets be a part of some adventurous event with your besties.. Short Info: Height: 3283 feet Grade: Easy Location: Igatpuri Cost: 650/- Per Person 600/- ( WSR Members ) Leads: Rahul / Mahadeo About Fort: The exact period of construction of this fort is not known, however, by virtue of ‘Jain caves’ near the foothills, one can roughly estimate the fort to be in existence since 10th century. Also there is no evidence regarding the period during which it was under control of Marathas, however, during the year 1688; Mughals took control over the fort by perfidy. Pleasant atmosphere and the cool breeze, makes every trekker visit this fort again. On reaching the top the view of the Tringalwadi Dam is breathtaking. On the Top from the devastated castle leads us further ahead to the secret doorway of the fort after taking a right turn from the same path, one has to climb down to reach this door. Further down step one can notice the door being carved within a single sheet of rock. On its right hand side one can see a statue of Lord Hanuman, about 6-7 feet high. A carved step on the mountain ahead leads to the top of the fort. A beautiful Goddess Temple makes it picture perfect. One of the best Shades of green admist the Clouds!!!!! Train Schedule: We will start with the CST – Kasara Slow Local (Time table given below) People may board the same local from the station of their convenience and meet us in the train directly.
