Harihar fort / Harshagad is a fort located 48 km from Igatpuri, Nashik district, of Maharashtra. It is an important fort in Nashik district.There are two base villages of the fort, Harshewadi and Nirgudpada. The Harshewadi is 13 km from Trimbakeshwar.The other base village of the fort is Nirgudpada/Kotamvadi which is 48 km from Igatpuri which itself is 48 km from Nashik and 121 km from Mumbai. The climb from Harshewadi is more easier than from the Nirgudpada.The trek to Harihar Fort is one of the amazing trekk which might be dream trekk of every trekker from maharashtra. The last steep rock cut stairs inclined at 80 degrees climbing is a breathtaking experience.The fort is famous for its stairs crafted in a rock having grips for holding by hands while climbing.
We reach Harihar from Nirgudpada village,from there Harihar fort gate is around 1:30 hrs walk.From top ,Vaitarna dam and the Trimbakeshwar mountain ranges can be seen.
There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau.
